Alison Orchard undertook a Foundation Diploma at Epsom School of Art & Design and at Harrow College, University of Westminster where she received a B.A. honours.

She started her career as a designer & illustrator for The Daily Telegraph before taking up a career as a fine artist. She has since exhibited in prominent galleries in the UK and all over the world, including The Royal College of Art & The Society of Women Artists, Mall Galleries, London.

In 2012, Alison was selected for inclusion in the prestigious Who’s Who in Art and in 2014 she was selected as one of only 20 international artists accredited as a ‘Golden Artist Educator’.

Alison’s multi-layered paintings are her personal response to her love for life. She begins by drawing or painting plein air; capturing the light, colours and mood of her subject. Returning back to the studio, she immerses herself in the next process, using charcoal or paint to make her trademark bold gestural marks and applying delicate glazes which she scrapes back or builds up to achieve texture.

Her recent artworks reflect a maturity and confidence which have the affect of enticing the viewer into the finished work. This is down to her willingness to push herself, working with oils, acrylics or even encaustic wax and dancing with those elements whilst incorporating the drawn lines and marks inspired by her sketchbook drawings into the final collage of artistry.

Alison’s work is held in private collections worldwide and we’re excited to be working with her most inspired collections.
