Carolyn Tyrer attended Central St Martins and the Sir John Cass School of Art in London, studying drawing and painting. She went on to become a lecturer in Fine Art at the Suffolk College in Ipswich.

Born in East Anglia, she was drawn to the moods of the ocean and expressed that love by learning to sail. That passion extended to painting seascapes and harbours.

Carolyn is globally renowned for her depictions of the harbours by her collectors, which she paints mainly in acrylics, and her recent sail around Cornwall’s many porths enabled her to increase her passion for that choice of subject.

She is also a major supporter of the RNLI and donates the charity use of some of her paintings for their calendars and cards.
