Craig Alan Lee is a self-taught artist painting landscapes as well as life models. Craig enjoys painting en plein air (outdoors) and also in his Buntingford studio in Hertfordshire. Craig is an active member of the Hertford Art Society as well as the Cambridge Drawing Society.
He paints mostly in oils and loves to paint portraiture, landscapes, still life and street scenes. He paints mostly with palette knife and also uses a combination of both brushes and knife.
Craig has a loose, spontaneous style and enjoys the challenges of capturing movement in his figures. He prides himself in having the ability to see potential in those everyday moments that pass most people by and transforming them into a work of art.
He was awarded the SAA professional artist of the year as well as their professional portrait and figurative award and also exhibited alongside the members of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters in the 2017, 2018 and 2019 (ROI) annual exhibition as well as the 2019 Royal Society of Marine Artists, at the prestigious Mall Galleries London.
He has had his work published in both The Artist magazine and The Leisure Painter, he has also written online articles for the magazines website Painters Online. Craig has had work in The Artist Exhibition at Patchings in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020.
In 2019 Craig won the Pro Arte award along with the The Artist Exhibition Award, and in 2020 he won our very own BritishContemporary.art award at Patchings art festival along with The Artist Exhibition Award.
