Jane Clatworthy graduated from Cheltenham art college with a BA hons in fine art sculpture. She went on to become a freelance community artist, whist opening her own studio and running courses.
Her paintings are inner landscapes. She distills and creates works of art that are beautiful, powerful and moving. She hopes to communicate with the viewer through her visual language, things she cannot express with mere words.
Using oil and cold wax, Jane works responsively with her chosen mediums and enjoys exploring mark making in its various form. Layering, veiling and excavating are many of the processes she uses in her work.
She likens this process to a conversation with her canvas. What is needed for balance? Where does the work need more drama? Whilst composing and editing, the story of the painting begins to show itself and Jane consciously brings it all to completion in her vibrant artworks.
