Scroll down for Jane’s Biography
Jane Upstone started her career as a graphic designer before being drawn to art and completing a degree in Contemporary Fine Art at Reading University in 2003.
She spent years working as an art teacher before becoming a full-time painter where she now shows in many solo and group shows around the country.
Jane’s work ranges from the figurative to abstract and cites the American abstract expressionists like Sam Francis and Joan Mitchell amongst her influences as well Peter Doig and JMW Turner.
Thickly layered acrylics, sensually manipulated surfaces and tranquil expanses of soft colour invite us to linger in her artistry, allowing ourselves to immerse in the thoughts and feelings they inspire.
