Julie Rhodes was born in Surry in the 70s and has been drawing wildlife her entire life. She studied at the Surrey Institute of Art & Design and now works in Cornwall as a professional artist, working solely in pencil, creating her unique highly detailed drawings.
Julie is inspired by watching wildlife for hours, drawing, sketching and taking photos. She also enjoys drawing Cornish harbours and fishing scenes inspired by her Cornish surroundings.
She has drawn for the Born Free Foundation, Care for the Wild and the Orangutan Foundation producing beautiful pencil-work to raise valuable funds for them and was awarded a “commended” accolade in the 2007 Wildscape, Wildlife Artist of the Year competition for her drawing of two Sumatran tigers. She was also awarded bronze at T.W.A.S.I 2007, and a Silver in 2008 and in other prestigious awards.
