Having trained as a Graphic Designer and Illustrator Kevin Clarkson worked for 30 years in the design, advertising and marketing industry chiefly in London. Chairman of the Old Royal Naval College Art Club and formerly Vice Chairman of the National Maritime Museum Art Club, he specialises in historical marine and landscape work.
Kevin’s paintings feature in a number of museums and private collections in the UK and abroad. In 2014 he was commissioned to paint a commemoration piece for the 100th anniversary of the start of WW1 by the Guildhall Museum Rochester Kent. Live Bait 7th Cruiser Squadron is on permanent display at the Guildhall.
In 2017 he produced a set of six paintings depicting the Dutch Raid on the River Medway in 1667, the paintings were used in national and local media to promote a commemorative event in Medway and are now on permanent display at Upnor Castle in Kent. Private commissions have encompassed work as divers as Mediterranean sea battles to the Monastery of Mont St Michel in Normandy with the odd portrait thrown in from time to time.
