Paul Martin trained as a classical fine artist at Art school in Bristol in the 70s and went on to create a commercial creative agency and was their ‘Visualising artist’.
Over the years, Paul has expressed himself using acrylics on canvas or inks and watercolours on paper. His fascination with textures and layers helped him create his unique style of washing boards then drying them repeatedly using an industrial heat-gun to create the layers and the feeling of depth.
He takes most of his inspiration from the landscape around his studio in the Mendip hills in Somerset, or from the sea and surf around the South West where he spends his spare time surfing.
Paul has long been an admirer of the Cornish School of Art and that inspiration can often be seen in his work.
